Here's a stunning papercut featuring the traditional pattern of a pair of roosters. Different colored paper pieces have been layered to produce depth and vibrancy to the design. The background is a pea green and the frame is a splattered silver tone with a sharp black center. The back is neatly covered in kraft paper, and is stamped with a red kanji for longevity. Taped to the back is an address is Poland. This type of papercut is attributed to Poland--see details below. Approximate measurements: 16 inches square x 3/4 inch thick CONDITION This picture is in good condition with overall light fading (the first photo is most representative on my computer screen). There is an area of rippling in the center black line (see close-up) that was present at framing. Wycinanki, pronounced Vee-chee-non-kee is the Polish word for 'paper-cut design'. This style of Wycinanki comes from the Lowicz district. It is characterized by many layers of colored paper --www.polartcenter.com If you need more information don’t hesitate to contact me!
