How is it made? First, one or more holes are drilled through the coin, and then, using a very fine-tooth jewelers saw, a portion of the coin background is "cut away."  What you see in the photos is that part of the coin not cut out -- the darker area is the part that is "cut away," and you can see through the coin!This cutting is all done by hand; no laser cutting or machinery is used to carve away the coin! A true piece of coin art! It may look fragile on your computer screen, but the coin's design is secure. A coin artist uses a special "angled cut," some refer to as "pyramiding," and then applies this technique to the little connections that secure the final design to the coin's rim.  The back side of the coin is thicker at those connections making it secure. Your new coin jewelry looks similar to the photo, lightly polished retaining the original metal look and patina. And, the coin in your hand is guaranteed to look better in your hands than on the computer!
