Antique Original WWII Polish Medal Poland CROSS OF MERIT The medal is struck in bronze A Maltese cross with rays between the cross arms A wreath in the center medallion, with the initials PRL The ribbon is faded to a rose color with two vertical white stripes there is no clasp , it was probably sewn on a ribbon bar At the time of its establishment in 1923, the Cross of Merit was the highest civilian award in Poland. It was awarded to citizens who went beyond the call of duty in their work for the country and society ( a few of these were made under the communist occupation, but the ribbon will be bright red … made out of nylon and the planchette has a bright modern finish ) A scarce polish military patriotic medal don’t pass it up !
