The armor has a wide degree of articulation due to the swivel-rivet construction for its individual plates and affords the wearer substantial freedom of movement for bending over, sitting or riding. Back protection is provided by a large disc rondel which is buckled onto the cuirass with a set of leather straps and buckles.
